Blog Comment Spam

This was originally a test blog post that I filled with Lorem Ipsum. It was created so that I could test the layout of various blog display pages and see them populated with content. A few days after posting it, it began to attract blog comment spam.

I kind of like analyzing blog comment spam and trying to figure out the spammer’s angle, so I decided to collect all of the comment spam that this blog receives. To that end, I have decided to host all of my blog comment spam here on this post. When I get spam, I’ll “de-militarize” it by removing links and email addresses, redirect it to this post as if it was intended for it, and add a comment to each message explaining the spammer’s goal before approving it.

I think that blog comment spam is interesting and figured that maybe you do too. Hopefully below this post you’ll see a ton of it along with my analysis.

I’m leaving a chunk of Lipsum below just for fun.

Ut ut eros tempus, dapibus eros quis, porttitor nibh. Sed vulputate sit amet orci vitae semper. Cras ut ornare dui. Suspendisse condimentum dolor nulla, sodales ullamcorper mi feugiat id. Vivamus at vestibulum tortor, nec sagittis sapien. Sed sed tortor pharetra, aliquet dui aliquam, vestibulum ante. Mauris quis ligula ac tellus auctor viverra at elementum tellus.

  1. Everything is very open with a really clear description of the challenges. It was definitely informative. Your site is very helpful. Many thanks for sharing!

    Analysis
This comment originally had the URL populated with a link to a hebrew-language dating site full of “hot-girl” pictures. I presume in an attempt to boost the Google-juice of the site. It was originally made to a test blog post called “Post Two” with 5 paragraphs of Lorem Ipsum, so it was clearly not “informative”. FYI, the Hebrew in the name field says “Escort services to your home”

  2. I was pretty pleased to find this great site. I want to to thank you for ones time just for this fantastic read!! I definitely really liked every little bit of it and I have you book-marked to see new stuff in your blog.

Another Israeli dating/porn/hot-girl site in Hebrew. I though the first one was a one-off since I had never seen blog comment spam for Israeli hot-girl sites before, but apparently it’s a thing and they are attracted to this stupid honeypot.

  3. Can I just say what a comfort to uncover somebody who really knows what they are talking about on the web. You actually know how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More and more people really need to look at this and understand this side of your story. Its surprising youre not more popular given that you definitely have the gift.

Another Hebrew / Israeli dating/porn/hot-girl site. I’d never seen the idea of Israeli porn sites before, and now it’s the only kind of blog comment spam I get here. It’s weird.
